Engraving Ideas

Need a little inspo? Here are a few of our favorite engraving ideas to get you started:

Initials. Get your own initials engraved to mark the jewelry as yours, creating an instant heirloom that can be passed down for generations. Combine your initials with your sweetheart’s to represent your relationship.
Special dates. This is a classic choice! Get your birthday, first date, wedding day, child’s birthday, or other memorable occasion etched into your jewelry to commemorate your most important moments.

Fingerprints. Did you know some of our styles allow for fingerprint engravings? This is a cool way to make your piece really unique, as no two fingerprints are the same.
Birth flowers. Another symbol to get engraved on some of our larger items, like lockets, is a birth flower, whether it’s yours or that of someone you love.
Quotes. Many of our engravable pieces have room for a short, sweet quote or phrase. It can be something simple, like “I love you” or something unique to you, like an inside joke.
Coordinates. Do you want to commemorate the place you met or got engaged? Coordinates make for a unique engraving with a cute backstory.

How Jewelry Is Engraved

Want to know a little more about the engraving process? Jewelry can be engraved by hand, machine, or laser. One of our in-house jewelers, Lara S., told us a little more about her technique. First, she puts the design into a computer program and works with the image to make sure it’s ready to get engraved

From there, she places the jewelry in the vise, AKA the engraving machine that uses a laser to carefully engrave the design into the metal. She lines up the jewelry, then sends it through several rounds of engraving and cleaning until it’s perfect and ready to wear.
